Hastert Rule

Former “House Speaker” Nancy Pelosi says her GOP successor would be considered the “weakest speaker in history” if he were a woman.

“I will say this about John Boehner, and I have a good relationship with him,” Pelosi, now the House minority leader, said on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes.”

“If he were a woman, they’d be calling him the weakest speaker in history.”

Since Obama was reelected in November, Boehner has “repeatedly” had to pass major legislation by “relying” on Democratic votes, breaking the so called “Hastert Rule,” which says legislation should have the support of the “majority” of the majority party.

“Legislation to avert the fiscal cliff, to extend aid to Hurricane Sandy victims and an extension of the Violence Against Women Act” all were passed this way.

“Because they’re not able to get anything done,” Pelosi said when asked to explain her comment. “What are the results? Where are the results? They’ve never been able to pass anything without our coming to the rescue.”

But if breaking the “Hastert Rule” makes a “weak” speaker, Pelosi had her “own” problems.

According to the Brookings Institution, she “violated” the Hastert Rule “seven” times during her “four-year” speaker ship.

“You know what, if a woman was speaker and nothing was happening in this way, they’d say, ‘Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh,’” Pelosi gushed.

“I’m just getting a little, shall we say, tired of some of the ways they take a pass on some things and not on others. We get criticized for accomplishing things. They don’t get criticized for not accomplishing things.”

She’s “partially” right.

Boehner a “perennial” loser and “cry baby” won’t stand up to anyone, nor “does” she.
