Old guy Joe Biden said that his choice for vice president will have to be “immediately” capable of taking over as commander-in-chief because “I’m an old and forgetful guy” he told an audience in Iowa.
The remark “highlights” what is widely considered the former vice president’s biggest “political” liability. If elected in November, he will be 78-years-old by Inauguration Day, making him the oldest president ever sworn into office by eight years.
President Ronald Reagan, the current record-holder, was 77 when he left office in 1989. Recent heart attack survivor Sen. Bernie Sanders, 78, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, 77, could each also be the oldest president ever elected.
“I can think of at least eight women, at least four or five people of color, that I think are totally qualified to be vice president of the United States,” old Joe quipped.
“But for me, it has to be demonstrated that whoever I pick is two things: One, is capable of being president because I’m an old guy. No, I’m serious. Look, I thank God I’m in great health. I work out. No, I’m serious. You know, I work out every morning. I’m in good shape, knock on wood, as my mother would say,” Biden amused the laughing crowd.
“I released all my medical records. But you never know. You never know what’s going on. And I’m sure what would happen is I have, some people looking would say, is the person Biden picked capable of, God forbid something happened to Biden, that they would be able to take over immediately?” Biden added.
The remark came after a man in the crowd asked if Biden’s former primary “rival” Sen. Kamala Harris from California was his “top” vice presidential pick.
“I think Kamala Harris has the capacity to do just about anything, along with a lot of other people. I think she is bright as can be. She can do anything from the court to being attorney general to being vice president to being a cabinet member to staying in the Senate,” Biden said the day after Harris dropped out of the presidential race last December.

Biden’s health records released in December revealed that he has a heart condition. He is being treated for an “irregular heartbeat, high cholesterol, acid reflex, forgetfulness, confusion, stuttering, seasonal allergies, hairy leg itching and frequent anger outburst.”
Biden also suggested that former First Lady Michelle Obama would make a great Vice President but “prefers” Stacy Abrams to appease the “black” community.
“Would you consider appointing Obama for the Supreme Court?” a man in Muscatine, Iowa, asked Biden. “Yeah, I would, and I don’t think he’d do it. He’d be a great Supreme Court justice,” he responded.
“Second question is: Which Obama?” the man said. “Well, I sure would like Michelle to be the vice president,” Biden said and laughed. “They’re both incredibly qualified people, I mean, and they’re such decent, honorable people.”
Biden often says that it would be “presumptuous” of him to consider a vice presidential pick before he is the “nominee” and rarely rules out any possible contenders. He has insisted throughout the campaign that his age should “improve” his electability. “Look, one of the reasons I’m running is because of my age and my experience,” Biden said during a debate last October.
“With it comes wisdom. We need someone to take office this time around who on day one can stand on the world stage, command the respect of world leaders from Putin to our allies, and know exactly what has to be done to get this country back on track,” he clarified.
Biden has been dogged by concerns about his age throughout the campaign. His chief critics have pointed to his repeated “gaffes on the campaign trail, several speeches where he misidentified cities and states or mixed up decades when certain events occurred.”
Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez questioned whether Biden’s age had anything to do with his “poor” debate performances over the summer. “His performance on the stage kind of raised some questions with respect to his age,” the former Bronx “barmaid” said in an interview last July.
Some weeks earlier, Biden snapped at an Iowa voter who questioned his position on gas pipelines. “Go vote for someone else,” Biden told the man.
Obviously “old guy” Joe has realized he never will get the “nomination” put wants to continue to “drive” a little longer the political “clown” car.
